Ezekiel 38 – War and Rumors of War is the title I chose as i look at the current situation in the Middle East. Jesus talks about one of the signs of the end times is wars and rumors of war. Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophesy about a war in Israel that we call the Gog/Magog war. Therefore, Ezekiel 38 – Wars and Rumor of War shows how this conflict reflects Matthew and Ezekiel
Who is involved.
The nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38 are not around anymore, except for Israel but the territories still are. Here is a list of the countries from Ezekiel 38 and their corresponding areas today:
Gog – Not a country but the ruler of Magog
Magog Russia, parts of Turkey
Gomer Turkey
Persia Iran
Rosh Area in southern Russia

A land without walls
It is interesting that this chapter immediately comes after the vision of the dry bones and them coming back to life. Ezekiel talks about a people that had been devastated by the sword but has returned to the mountains of Israel. The mountains of Israel is Jerusalem.
The land is said to have been desolate and that is exactly what the land was like when Israel became a nation in 1948. It wasn’t until 1967 that Jerusalem was captured though. And definitely this is the latter years.
Coming for plunder and booty
Israel today has much that the neighboring countries want. They have rich fertile fields for crops, scientific and medical research that is world class and recently oil was discovered off her coast. They are a modern and rich country.
A mighty army that will cover the land
This army consisting of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Sudan and Lybia will cover the land. Saudi Arabia, who just signed a treaty with Israel will protest but not get involved. Israel will be pushed back. The recent Hamas attacks were probably order by Iran to test Israel’s defense systems and their resolve.
Picking a time of weakness
Iran is testing Israel when they are having a struggle electing a president. They have tried four times without success. The USA has a weak government right now and have extended a hand to Iran to restart the nuclear program. Russia laughs at the USA. Turkey and Russia are talking to each other as are Turkey and Iran and Russian and Iran.
God’s wrath
God indicates his displeasure and His wrath. The end result will the destruction of this army (chapter 39) thus Ezekiel 38 – Wars and Rumor of War is not good for this army!
