Romans Chapter 10 carries on with Paul talking about the Jews and why they are not responding to the gospel. He prays that the Israelites would be saved.
Zeal is not good enough
I pray that we at Central Pentecostal Assembly would have a zeal for the Lord. In Romans Chapter 10 though, we read that Israel had a great zeal for God but it was misplaced. They didn’t have the knowledge of the righteousness of God. Rather they thought they could obtain their own righteousness by following the Law. This is a righteousness by works and as Paul explained earlier, it is not sufficient.
Christ alone
In verse 4 of Romans Chapter 10, we read, “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.” (NIV) It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that a person can be saved and deemed righteous in the sight of God.
God is close
We read in verse 8 that God is not afar off. Salvation is very close. “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart. We are told that if we “confess with our mouth ‘Jesus is Lord” and believe in heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”
Preachers needed
Later Paul, in reverse order says we need people who are sent to preach to those who will hear and then believe and finally call out to the Lord, to be saved. Are you willing to be called and sent?
