As you enter our second week of lockdown, at the church, it is easy to lose your focus. It is easy to look at the world and to feel overwhelmed but you need to fight against it. God is in control!
Proverbs 21:30 tells us:
There is no wisdom and no understanding and no counsel against the Lord
Doesn’t this tell you that no matter what, God is in control and it doesn’t matter who tries to come against Him; it will come to naught.
NOTHING OF MAN OR THE SUPERNATURAL
This includes the things of man and the supernatural, including demons.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Victory Belongs to the Lord
Carrying on in Proverbs verse 31, we are told:
The horse is prepared for the day of battle, BUT victory belongs to the Lord.
Stay Focused on Jesus
So, I want to encourage you today, as I did yesterday, that rather than looking at all that is going on around you; keep your focus on Jesus. That is not to say that you shouldn’t be aware of what is happening, and in the case of the Covid-19 virus, take precautions, but we just can’t enable “things” to dominate our lives.
Don’t be Paralyzed
Don’t allow fear, worry, anxiety, angst and depression and loneliness to creep in and paralyze you. This is happening in the world around you. But, you have a hope in Christ Jesus. He is a sure anchor in times of trouble.
Therefore, as the old chorus says:
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.”
